Case 02 / Public & Disaster prevention

Nuclear Emergency Off-Site Centers (Fukui)

原子力防災オフサイトセンター(福井)

Awarded in July 2012, we fabricated and delivered positive pressure systems for four facilities and also handled construction management.

工事概要

A positive pressure system keeps indoor air pressure slightly higher than outside, so outside air does not easily get in.

Story

Challenge and response

課題と対応

These facilities are disaster response centers. Their equipment must work reliably in an emergency.

Issue

These facilities serve as response centers in a nuclear emergency, so they needed a positive pressure system that keeps outside air from getting into the rooms. The work covered four facilities.

Action

We handled everything from fabricating and delivering the system to construction management on site. We applied our experience in air conditioning and ventilation work to both the fabrication of the equipment and its installation on site.

Result

A project in which we were entrusted with special air conditioning systems for public facilities that serve as disaster response centers. After this, we expanded our work to hotels, hospitals and large commercial facilities.

Approach

How we work

当社の進め方

Keeping positive pressure depends on balancing the amount of air supplied against the amount escaping through gaps in the building. We check the installation at every point where air is likely to leak, such as duct joints and wall penetrations, one by one.

On this project, one company handled both fabricating the system and managing the work on site. Site dimensions and fitting details can go straight back to the fabrication side, so differences between drawings and site are found early and rework is reduced.

When several facilities are in progress at the same time, we track each facility's progress and check items in the same format, and carry out test runs and checks with the same procedure at every facility.
